Hey, Im Chris, Founder of Rule Of Threads.
My story didn't start by designing clothes, it began by needing them.
As a photographer moving through New York City, I’d spend full days shooting in the streets, then walk straight into events or client meetings. I needed a shirt that could keep up: elevated enough for the room, and comfortable enough for the miles walked getting there.
Before that, I served as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army, where I learned discipline, precision, and how to operate with intent. When I transitioned into photography and travel work, those values came with me. But in menswear, I found extremes: fragile “essentials” that looked tired by evening, and stiff, overpriced pieces trying too hard. Nothing existed that balanced movement, durability, and clean style, so I built it.
How We Built it
What started as a personal need became an obsession. I wanted a shirt that felt substantial yet breathable, not the thin tees that lose structure, or the heavy ones that feel suffocating.
After discovering the perfect middle ground in a premium micro-rib cotton-elastane blend, development began. Two years, dozens of prototypes, hundreds of wash and wear-tests, and multiple mills later, the Origin Tee was born.
Engineered fabric weight. Tailored lines. Stretch that supports movement, not shape loss. It wasn’t about making another tee, it was about making the tee you reach for every day.
